For Richfield Town Supervisor
Qualifications:
As a business owner that deals with large companies on complex projects, I get involved in tasks that parallel our Town Board activities. On my work projects, I am often the "project manager" for teams of people spanning several companies. This task routinely involves negotiation (and understanding) of contracts, project planning/scheduling, and team building. I want to stress team building here, as a Town Board that cannot work together as a team is largely ineffective. I think it is necessary in many instances to come to a compromise, instead of a black and white decision on issues…or else nothing gets done (like what you see firsthand happening in Washington!) Another major aspect of my work is the requirement to explain or defend my position on issues or decisions…and listen openly and genuinely to counter-positions. And that often requires me to change my view when I realize the counter argument was correct, and I was not. I don't see admitting to mistakes or oversights as a weakness…I consider it a strength!
At my business, I do my own corporate books, do my own State and Federal filings, and I do my own State and Federal corporate tax returns. I am not an accountant per se, but over the 20 years I’ve been doing this work, I’ve gotten pretty good at it, for an engineer. J
Town books are fairly similar to corporate book, with some exceptions. Over the past two years I have become familiar with the differences, and am now pretty well up on those also.
